Flood risk

Flooding and drainage cannot be an afterthought

Surface water flooding risk is one of the campaign's most serious local concerns and should not be treated as a minor technical footnote.

Building on open land changes how water moves through a site and the wider area. Residents are concerned that more hard surfaces and altered ground conditions could worsen runoff and drainage pressure.

That matters in a town where people already worry about whether infrastructure is keeping pace with development. Drainage is part of that story, not a separate subject.

The campaign is therefore asking for full and careful scrutiny of surface water impacts, local drainage capacity, and whether avoidable risk is being added to existing problems.
